Using Adobe Photoshop To make Gif's:
There are a few different, yet very important components, to this art experience. All of these components will work together to complete a final product in Adobe Photoshop.
First off, students will each write 3 words on slips of paper. The words correspond with 3 elements of a .gif image. The first word applies to some sort of setting. This can be anything from a baseball game to in a car. The second word applies to a type of character. This can range from a Doctor to a cat, or a dog to a living cloud, as long as it is a living being that can perform an action. The third word applies to an action piece. In other words, something that the students characters will do such as; ride a bike, fly a kite, throw a football, etc. After writing these words down, each student will draw one word from each category.
The second key component to this experience is the ideation. This is where students will explore different ideas for each of their 3 words. For more detail, click over to the Support Materials tab in the menu, and download the ideation sheet.
The final, and most important, component for this piece, is the making of a .gif image. After drawing 3 words and exploring possibilities through ideation, the students will combine all of these elements together in Adobe Photoshop. Using the timeline, and various tools, the students will combine their character with a setting and animate the character doing an action in a short .gif image.
